no. roni looked at the starship tickets and they sold out in 2 minutes. and no i didn't hit on darren. consciously. lololololol. it was during his livestream and some bitty high school girl was like, "btw, i'm 18." and everyone in the room with him started laughing and it was really awkward/funny. he handled it well, but you could tell he was uncomfortable.

Aww… I’m going and was hoping to run into you and/or my sister. I had a guess they would sell out fast, the friend i’m going with called me 20 mins before midnight to ask if i wanted to come with.

Ben Folds - Sleazy (Ke$ha cover)

This is extraordinary.

I am forever in love.

Again proving indie singer/songwriter covers of pop music are superior to the original take

“A nation that destroys its systems of education, degrades its public information, guts its public libraries and turns its airwaves into vehicles for cheap, mindless amusement becomes deaf, dumb and blind. It prizes test scores above critical thinking and literacy. It celebrates rote vocational training and the singular, amoral skill of making money. It churns out stunted human products, lacking the capacity and vocabulary to challenge the assumptions and structures of the corporate state. It funnels them into a caste system of drones and systems managers. It transforms a democratic state into a feudal system of corporate masters and serfs.

Teachers, their unions under attack, are becoming as replaceable as minimum-wage employees at Burger King. We spurn real teachers—those with the capacity to inspire children to think, those who help the young discover their gifts and potential—and replace them with instructors who teach to narrow, standardized tests. These instructors obey. They teach children to obey. And that is the point. The No Child Left Behind program, modeled on the “Texas Miracle,” is a fraud. It worked no better than our deregulated financial system. But when you shut out debate these dead ideas are self-perpetuating.”

Your Nutritionista: 4 Rules for Creating a Satisfying Salad → yournutritionista.com

nutritionista:

Salad is the go-to lunch food for many office dwellers, but they also tend to find themselves starving and lethargic when 3pm rolls around. That’s because a lot of salads are just plain bad. Grilled chicken and low-fat dressing does not a satisfying salad make. Let me give you a few…

Ehow: Reasons to Cut Music Education

image

My district wants to cut the program. The department is working on a petition to stop it.

One of the last things i did before I stopped working at the music store was go a school board meeting for the district with my ENTIRE department INCLUDING the two store owners.

we pointed out that most of the budget problems are involved with overpaying too many already unnecessary official positions on the board. and every single good thing involved with adding music to children’s learning. Music can be made optional like sports, it is never the less extra-curricular, but kids get a choice to play sports or not and music deserves the same. CUTTING MUSIC IS NEVER THE ANSWER

JOIN ME in writing the editor of the column as well as the writer to say how wrong he is and what good being a musician has done for your life, if you’re a musician, and what better alternatives there are for budgets and kids, than cutting out a program that influences kids so positively.
